Welcome to the Midwest Family

Our mission is to provide person-centered, community-based supports to people  with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who choose our services.  We maintain open lines of communication with those we serve and their families. We provide opportunities for people to establish nurturing relationships. We strive to be more than a provider of services; we are committed to being a valued asset to our community.

Midwest comprises three organizations delivering vital services to individuals in six Northeast Ohio counties.

Midwest Community was founded in 2000 by Joseph B. and Kristine Knetzer to provide services and supports to persons with developmental disabilities. Today Midwest Community operates intermediate care  facilities that serve 33 persons inn Stark and Holmes Counties. These facilities provide  personal care, habilitation, developmental, and supportive health services  around the clock to developmentally disabled clients who may periodically need skilled nursing services.

A second organization, Midwest Health, provides supports to individuals in congregate settings and in their homes.  Health currently serves 170 persons in Stark, Wayne, Knox, Licking and Muskingum Counties.

Midwest Innovations, a third operation within the group, provides day habilitation services to individuals and pays minimum wage for all work that they perform.  There are currently four locations in Stark County, two in Wayne County, one in Knox county and one in Licking county serving about 200 persons.
